Gentle Cascade (Oliver) is by Laerkens Cascade Dawn (Den) out of Gentle Carra (Ire). Gentle Carra is a daughter of Milford Wren and therefore a half sister to the well regarded Slisneior. At just over 14hh Oliver is of a height to increase the size of Connemara ponies in New Zealand. Oliver carries himself well so therefore looks bigger than he actually is. He has great bone and movement with a very sensible and reliable temperament.
Oliver stands at the Braemar Connemara Pony Stud, near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, England.
Foaled in 2002, Oliver is still a young stallion at the beginning of both his ridden and stud career. He passed his stallion inspection in 2005 as a 3yr old with a score of 279 out of 300. His first foals arrived on the ground in 2007, and are already doing well in the show ring.
Oliver is a non-dilute (born chestnut), heterozygous grey.
As a three year old, Oliver was shown at the British Connemara Pony Society Breed Show where he won his class and went on to win the Youngstock Championship. Oliver did not compete in 2006. In 2007 after standing with Jerome Harforth (Stanley Grange Stud) Oliver competed at the BCPS Breed Show where he again won his class and was awarded Reserve Champion Stallion to Bunowen Castle Ri. In 2007, for the second time Bunowen Castle Ri won the prestigious Olympia Horse Show M&M title which puts Oliver into very good company indeed. 2008 saw Oliver commence his ridden career; at his first show he won his class and went on to win Reserve Champion to a Welsh Sec B. This win qualified him for the Royal International Horse Show Final. His second show was a Welsh pony show with only the one open ridden class. He won this class then went on to achieve Reserve Champion Ridden to a Welsh Section D (not bad at a Welsh show). The third show at which he competed was an Olympia Qualifier. This competition is one where all the big guns perform to gain the right to attend Olympia; Oliver came a very creditable 5th.
